There are quite a few lures that have been around forever…but people don’t use them a lot because of the newer alternatives. Those that don’t know about them wouldn’t even have a clue of how these awesome lures are still producing, even when the newer stuff couldn’t.
An example of this would be the Bucktail Jig. This is one of the most effective baits and is one of the top dressings for a jighead. The earliest jigheads were made with bucktail and faded in popularity with the advent of soft plastics. It takes a bit more time to put together but over the years, it did not lose it’s fish catching appeal.
I am currently dressing a few for the summer’s tuna and dorado fishing.
I will also tie a few for flats fishing where using a plastic would not only delay you from catching more, it would also get a bit costly when plastics start to disappear from the pack one after another.
Would it work?
Tie one and and see for yourself!
